British International Investment (BII) on Thursday launched a new climate initiative targeted at accelerating energy transition, with India among the key focus economies.

The UK’s development finance institution and impact investor said its new British Climate Partners (BCP) initiative, worth 1.1 billion pounds, is designed to mobilise private capital at scale to support developing economies in Asia to accelerate progress towards net zero.

Net zero is the balance between greenhouse gases emitted and removed from the atmosphere by any given entity, such as a country or an organisation.
