The Union Cabinet has approved a lease extension for Nagpur International Airport, clearing the way for its modernisation under a Public Private Partnership (PPP) model.
Notably, the decision assumes significance as it marks an important milestone in the development of Nagpur airport under the Multi-modal International Cargo Hub and Airport at Nagpur (MIHAN) project.
According to an official statement, the move will allow MIHAN India (MIL) to license the airport to concessionaire GMR Nagpur International Airport Ltd (GNIAL) for 30 years.
