With 508-km Mumbai-Ahmedabad High Speed Rail (HSR) corridor set to become operational in phases between August 15, 2027, and 2029, National High Speed Rail Corporation Ltd (NHSRCL) has begun laying the engineering groundwork for the next generation of bullet train projects.

The corporation has invited bids to appoint a consultant to prepare standardised designs for future high-speed rail corridors, with the latest consultancy focusing on Chennai-Bengaluru and Delhi-Varanasi HSR corridors.Instead of preparing fresh designs for every corridor, NHSRCL plans to develop standardised engineering designs that can be adapted across future projects, reducing design timelines and bringing uniformity to the network.
