The Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation (MSRDC) is exploring commercial and planned development around the 25 interchanges of the 701-km Mumbai-Nagpur Samruddhi Expressway.
The proposal includes townships, hotels, theme parks and shopping complexes, with Geographic Information System (GIS) mapping being considered to identify suitable development opportunities.
The initiative aims to attract private investment, generate employment and create additional revenue for future infrastructure projects.

Focus on Viable Development
MSRDC is seeking proposals from industry experts before finalising the development model. The move follows an earlier attempt to monetise land around the expressway, which reportedly failed to attract private bidders due to high reserve prices.
The corporation aims to balance revenue generation with the development of essential amenities along the corridor. However, details of the proposed framework and necessary clearances are yet to be finalised.
MSRDC, designated as the Special Planning Authority (SPA) for the Samruddhi corridor, wants to use the expressway as a catalyst for integrated urban, industrial, logistics, tourism and agricultural development.
