Gurugram residents could see improvements on several busy roads over the next few weeks. The Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA) has identified 27 road stretches for upgrades under Haryana’s 30-day challenge, which aims to improve 100 roads across the city by November 7, 2026.
The selected roads will get more than pothole repairs. The work includes resurfacing, paving, streetlights, lane markings and better signboards. The aim is to make these roads easier and safer to use for both motorists and pedestrians.
Of the 27 stretches identified so far, 20 are master roads that will undergo repairs, while seven have been selected for development as ‘iconic’ roads. The Municipal Corporation of Gurugram (MCG), GMDA and Haryana Shehri Vikas Pradhikaran (HSVP) will carry out work in their respective areas.
Which Gurugram Roads Have Been Identified for Repair?
The 20 master roads include several stretches connecting residential sectors, commercial areas and important junctions. These are among the roads identified by GMDA for improvement:
- Golf Course Road to Ghata: The stretch connecting GCR to Ghata.
- Medicity Road: A key road in the city.
- Sector 75/76 dividing road: Connecting the two sectors.
- Ardee City to Ambedkar Road: A road linking the residential area with Ambedkar Road.
- Ambedkar Road to Mayfield: The connecting stretch has also been included.
- Sector 50/51 dividing road: One of the sector roads identified for repairs.
- Sector 65/66 dividing road: Another stretch included in the plan.
-
- Sector 51/57 dividing road: The road is also part of the list.
- Rezang La Chowk to Delhi border: This stretch is among the key roads selected for improvement.
The list also includes seven roads that will receive additional attention under the iconic roads initiative.
MG Road, Cyber Hub Road Among Seven Iconic Stretches
The seven roads selected for the iconic roads initiative include:
- MG Road, from IFFCO Chowk to Sikanderpur Metro Station
- Sector 27/28 dividing road
- Sector 27/43 dividing road
- Signature Tower to Millennium City Centre
- Sanath Road
- AIT Chowk to Sikanderpur Metro Station
- Sikanderpur Metro Station to Cyber Hub
These roads are expected to receive improvements to their streetscapes and public amenities. The plan also includes designated smoking zones, monitoring and enforcement measures.
The stretch between Sikanderpur Metro Station and Cyber Hub is particularly important for daily commuters because it connects a major business district with Metro access. The MG Road stretch also serves busy commercial and office areas.
However, the proposed upgrades should not be confused with the construction of new roads. The current initiative focuses on improving existing stretches.
What Work Will Be Done on These Roads?
The road improvement programme includes pothole repairs, resurfacing, paving and the installation of streetlights and traffic infrastructure. Officials have also said that signage will be improved and information boards will be installed on the identified roads.
The aim is to move beyond temporary patchwork. The selected stretches are expected to receive more comprehensive improvements so that road users do not have to depend only on repeated pothole filling.
GMDA has also issued tenders for the repair work, according to the October 12 report. The three civic agencies will handle the roads under their respective jurisdictions.
How Will the Road Repairs Affect Gurugram’s Real Estate?
Better roads can make a difference to people living in and around these areas. The stretches identified by GMDA include roads in Sectors 50, 51, 65, 66, 75 and 76, along with parts of MG Road and the Cyber Hub area.
For people looking for flats in Gurugram, road conditions are one of the things worth checking before choosing a locality. Better road surfaces, streetlights and clearer signs can make daily travel easier for residents, especially those who commute to offices or use these roads regularly.
The impact could also matter for commercial property in Gurugram, particularly around busy office and business areas such as Cyber Hub and MG Road. However, the actual benefit will depend on how well the work is completed and maintained. The road upgrade plan alone does not mean property prices in these areas will rise.
Road Repairs in Gurugram: What’s the Deadline?
Gurugram has until November 7, 2026, to upgrade 100 roads under the Haryana government’s 30-day challenge. The drive began on October 8.
GMDA has shortlisted 27 road stretches, including roads in residential sectors and busy commercial areas. More roads may be taken up under the same programme.
The work is expected to improve existing roads rather than build new ones. Residents will see the difference once repairs are completed on the stretches they use every day.
