Gurgaon: Haryana has signed letters of intent (LoIs) worth Rs 4,000 crore with Sweden, including a Rs 3,000-crore proposal and another Rs 1,000 crore in the retail and warehousing sectors, during chief minister Nayab Singh Saini’s visit to Stockholm, the state govt said on Friday. The announcements outline proposed investments, but details of the companies involved, project locations, implementation timelines and the number of jobs expected were not provided in the statement. “This important visit has opened new avenues for trade, investment and economic cooperation between Haryana and Sweden, as well as employment opportunities for the youth,” said urban local bodies minister Vipul Goel.
The visit also resulted in an agreement for city-to-city collaboration between Gurgaon and Stockholm. “The two cities will work together in the areas of technological innovation, smart city solutions, sustainable urban development, knowledge exchange and investment promotion. This collaboration will strengthen the long-term partnership between the two cities,” an official said.
An important agreement was also reached to increase trade and promote economic cooperation between Haryana and Sweden. Swedish companies have assured that they will provide employment opportunities for Haryana’s skilled youth. This will open new avenues for skill development, training and employment of international standards for the state’s youth.
The CM said by combining Sweden’s advanced technology, innovation and sustainable development model with Haryana’s dynamic economy and youth power, the state will be taken forward rapidly towards the goal of a self-reliant India. “These agreements will give fresh impetus to employment generation, industrial development, export growth and urban modernisation in Haryana,” Saini said. The state govt will provide all necessary facilities to ensure that these investments are implemented at the earliest.
