The Uttar Pradesh government is moving ahead with the expansion of an industrial corridor being developed along the Ganga Expressway in Sambhal district, with preparations underway to acquire an additional 200 to 300 hectares of land in the project’s second phase.

According to news reports, the new round of land acquisition will cover areas in the villages of Kharsapa, Bhamauri Patti and Saundhan Mohammadpur.

The expansion forms part of the state government’s broader strategy to develop a network of industrial zones along the Ganga Expressway in order to attract investment and generate employment opportunities across the region.

In the first phase of the project, approximately 240 hectares of land were acquired from villages including Khirni Muhiuddinpur, Basla, Amavati Kutubpur and Sarangpur. Officials say nearly 95 per cent of the development work in this phase has already been completed.

Now, the Uttar Pradesh Expressways Industrial Development Authority (UPEIDA) has proposed a further expansion adjacent to the previously acquired land.

The authority has formally written to the district administration outlining plans to acquire an additional 200–300 hectares to extend the industrial corridor.
