BEL Signs MoU with FSID-IISc

Bengaluru: Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL), a Navratna Defence Public Sector Undertaking (PSU), signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Foundation for Science, Innovation and Development (FSID), established by Indian Institute of Science (IISc) Bengaluru to collaborate on innovation and technology development initiatives under BEL’s Corporate Innovation Programme (CIP) fostering collaboration with Startups/Academia/MSMEs. 

The MoU underscores BEL’s commitment to advancing indigenous technological capabilities in aerospace and defence sectors. By partnering with FSID-IISc, BEL seeks to leverage leading innovation and cutting edge R&D to enhance the country’s strategic and operational capabilities in aerospace and defence.

The signing of the MoU highlights BEL’s proactive approach towards engagement of stakeholders and continued commitment to Aatmanirbhar Bharat.

Today, BEL is a multi-product, multi-technology, multi-unit conglomerate which designs, manufactures and supplies state-of-the-art products and systems in a wide variety of fields including Radars, Missile Systems, Military Communications, Naval Systems, Electronic Warfare & Avionics, C4I Systems, Electro Optics, Tank Electronics & Gun/Weapon System Upgrades, and Electronic Fuzes in the Defence segment.

BEL’s non-Defence business segment includes areas such as Electronic Voting Machines, Homeland Security & Smart Cities, Satellite Integration & Space Electronics, Railways, Artificial Intelligence, Cyber Security, Software as a Service, Energy Storage Products, besides Composite Shelters & Masts.

BEL is fast expanding its global presence, putting its best foot forward to give a thrust to exports worldwide. In recent years, many policy reforms have been initiated by the Department of Defence Production, Ministry of Defence, Government of India for carrying out defence innovation and indigenisation. BEL is inclined to support such initiatives by indigenous production of items needed by the defence forces, independently and in collaboration with emerging entities in the private and public sectors.
