The Andhra Pradesh government has set up a dedicated Implementation Committee for the Amaravati Economic Region, creating a single institutional structure to develop the area into a key economic growth corridor through coordinated planning, investment mobilisation and time-bound execution of projects. The orders were issued on Friday (17 July).
The AER spans nine districts, namely NTR, Krishna, Eluru, West Godavari, Guntur, Palnadu, Bapatla, Prakasam and Markapuram.
The core aim of the AER is to build Amaravati and the surrounding districts into an interconnected, globally competitive economic zone by bringing regional spatial planning, land use, infrastructure, urban development, industrialisation, logistics and investment promotion under one framework.
The plan aims to encourage balanced growth across the region, build new economic activity centres, strengthen connectivity between cities and growth clusters, draw domestic and international investment, generate large scale jobs and raise overall living standards.
It will allow infrastructure and economic projects to be designed beyond administrative limits, guided by the region’s broader needs and opportunities.
