The Delhi government has approved the induction of 2,800 air-conditioned low-floor electric buses under the first phase of the PM E-Drive scheme.
Alongside the electric bus rollout, the administration has outlined plans to increase the overall public transport fleet to around 14,000 buses by 2028-29, reported news agency ANI.
Earlier this month, the Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC) introduced Route 753 Ext on a trial basis to improve travel between Central Delhi and residential neighbourhoods in West Delhi.The route provides direct links from areas including Janakpuri, Vikaspuri, Hastsal, Shiv Vihar, Uttam Nagar and Hari Nagar to key transit hubs such as Mori Gate, Kashmere Gate, Old Delhi Railway Station and New Delhi Railway Station.Supporting the transition to electric mobility, PMO Advisor Tarun Kapoor highlighted the national importance of accelerating EV adoption, was quoted as saying that, “We want to promote electric vehicles across the country. All stakeholders, whether state governments or industry, have an important role to play. We want to reduce our dependence on imported oil.”
