The Uttar Pradesh Cabinet has approved infrastructure and industrial investment proposals worth more than Rs 24,000 crore, clearing major expressway projects, a new manufacturing and logistics cluster in Sultanpur, and incentives for 11 large industrial ventures across the state.
The decisions include a Rs 10,761 crore extension of the Ganga Expressway towards Haridwar and the Rs 7,968.30 crore Jhansi Link Expressway.
A detailed project report will now be prepared for the proposed Ganga Expressway extension, which is planned as a six-lane greenfield corridor with provision for future expansion to eight lanes.
It would also create an access-controlled connection between Prayagraj and Haridwar, two major Ganga-side Kumbh cities.
The Cabinet also approved the Rs 272.25 crore development of an Integrated Manufacturing and Logistics Cluster near the Purvanchal Expressway in Sultanpur.
The project will be funded by the state government, with a global tender to be issued for selecting the construction agency.
Meanwhile, the Jhansi Link Expressway is intended to improve connectivity to the Bundelkhand Industrial Development Authority region and the defence corridor around Jhansi.
The projects span several districts and include proposed investments by Canpack India, Agristo Masa and Supreme Industries.
Canpack India plans to invest Rs 1,573.62 crore in an aluminium beverage can manufacturing facility in Unnao, while Agristo Masa is set to expand its potato processing operations in Bijnor.
Supreme Industries will establish a value-added plastic building solutions unit in Kanpur Dehat.
Finance Minister Suresh Khanna noted that the proposed Jhansi Link Expressway would support the BIDA region and the defence corridor, while the Sultanpur IMLC would benefit from its proximity to the Purvanchal Expressway.
