The Andhra Pradesh Cabinet, chaired by Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu, on Thursday approved administrative sanction for the ₹759 crore Amaravati Sangamam project at Sakhamuru, authorised land pooling of 6,212.50 acres for the capital’s proposed Inner Ring Road system, and approved the draft Andhra Pradesh Poultry Development Policy aimed at strengthening the poultry sector.
Information and Public Relations Minister Kolusu Parthasarathy, accompanied by I&PR Commissioner K.S. Viswanathan, briefed the media at the Secretariat after the Cabinet meeting.
The Amaravati Sangamam project will comprise the Andhra Pradesh State Public Library, an auditorium and the Global Institute of Good Governance. It will be executed under Item Rate Contract/EPC Mode-2 at an estimated cost of ₹759 crore, inclusive of GST and other applicable provisions. Funding commitments include ₹310 crore from DPL, ₹277 crore from APHRDI and ₹171 crore from APCRDA.
The APCRDA Commissioner and AGICL Managing Director were authorised to take further action.
The Cabinet also approved a Land Pooling Scheme, at the request of farmers, for the proposed Inner Ring Road system in Amaravati. The proposal includes a 100-metre buffer for the Errupalem-Namburu new broad-gauge railway line and expansion of grid roads from the capital city boundary to the Inner Ring Road. The land pooling will cover 974 acres in Kanteuru village of Guntur district and 5,238 acres in Tadikonda mandal, totalling 6,212 acres.
The Cabinet approved the draft Andhra Pradesh Poultry Development Policy 2025-2029, also referred to in the proposal as the AP Poultry Development Policy 2026-29. It seeks to reduce production costs, promote Environment Controlled Poultry Sheds, strengthen disease surveillance and biosecurity, develop rural and backyard poultry, and encourage processing, value-added products and exports.
The policy proposes financial incentives totalling ₹657 crore under various components. Of this, ₹120 crore over three years has been identified from the Animal Husbandry Department budget, subject to availability of funds and sanction, for interest subsidy and Environment Controlled Poultry Sheds.
Mandatory registration of poultry farms will be introduced to improve traceability, disease surveillance and biosecurity compliance. Mother poultry units and rural/backyard poultry activities will also be promoted and linked with NLM, SERP and PMEGP programmes.
The Cabinet further approved 21 regular posts for the Additional District and Sessions Judge Court at Mangalagiri, which were earlier sanctioned in 2023.
For Amaravati, it approved bituminous flexible pavements on Type-B, C, D and E LPS roads instead of cement-concrete pavements.
