The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) will introduce India’s first three-coach train on the upcoming Lajpat Nagar to Saket G Block route.
The metro corridor has been designed specifically to operate with three-coach trains.
The eight-kilometre corridor, part of Phase IV expansion, will be the second-smallest line in the Delhi Metro network and aims to enhance last-mile connectivity while ensuring seamless interchange with existing corridors.
Unlike conventional metro lines that operate with four, six or eight coaches, this innovative system has been developed to cater specifically to short-distance urban travel.
Each coach will accommodate approximately 300 passengers, bringing the total capacity of a three-coach train to around 900 people per trip.
