BEML Limited has secured a ₹5,400 crore contract to supply and maintain 16 high-speed trains for the Mumbai–Ahmedabad High Speed Rail (MAHSR) corridor, marking the largest single order in the company’s history and taking its overall order book beyond ₹21,000 crore.
The contract from the National High Speed Rail Corporation Limited (NHSRCL) is a major breakthrough for BEML’s high-speed rail ambitions, placing the Indian engineering and manufacturing company among a select group of global players with capabilities to develop and manufacture high-speed rolling stock.
These train-sets have to be delivered in the next 7-8 years, official sources told thebusinessline.
