Bengaluru’s Namma Metro Phase 3 land acquisition is moving forward, with the Karnataka government issuing a notification to acquire 170 properties covering 13,409.05 square metres for the Orange Line project.
The land is required for constructing the metro viaduct, ramps, pillars, stations and related infrastructure between JP Nagar 4th Phase and Mysuru Road Metro Station.
The notification, dated 16 October 2026, was published in the Karnataka State Gazette and represents the third preliminary land acquisition notice issued for Package 1 of the project.
The properties include parcels in Kaggalipura, Jaraganahalli and other areas along the proposed alignment. Property owners have been warned not to sell, lease or exchange the notified properties without permission from the Special Land Acquisition Officer.
The Rs 15,611 crore Phase 3 project comprises two corridors spanning 44.65 km. Corridor 1 will run 32.15 km from JP Nagar Phase 4 to Kempapura with 22 stations, whilst Corridor 2 will cover 12.5 km from Hosahalli to Kadabagere.
The land acquisition process is being carried out through the Karnataka Industrial Areas Development Board, whilst the Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited identifies construction requirements.
Progress on Phase 3 has been slower than anticipated, primarily due to delays in pre-construction activities. Construction activities are expected to begin in June 2026, with trial runs and commissioning targeted for May 2031.
The opening of the 44.65 km Phase 3 will extend the Bengaluru Metro network to 222.2 km.
