Yogi government is set to give a huge upgrade to Noida’s public transport! The Noida Metro Rail Corporation is starting work on two new metro lines that will cost Rs 2,670 crore. The goal is to connect Noida, Greater Noida, and Delhi much better and get more people using the Aqua Line. When these new lines are finished, they are expected to help more than 2 lakh daily travelers, especially people going to work and residents moving between important spots.
The goal is to connect Noida, Greater Noida, and Delhi much better and get more people using the Aqua Line.

Sector 142 to Botanical Garden link line

The most exciting part is the new line that will join Sector 142 Noida to Botanical Garden Noida. This line is 11.56 km long, will have 8 stations, and will directly connect the Aqua Line to the Delhi Metro. This means much faster travel for people going to Delhi and central Noida.

Greater Noida Depot to Bodaki Railway Station

The second plan is to stretch the Aqua Line from Greater Noida Depot right up to Bodaki Railway Station. This short 2.6 km section will add two stations: Junapat and Bodaki. The idea is to connect the metro directly with Indian Railways, so people in Greater Noida can start their long-distance train journeys more easily.

Budget and project scale

These two projects that have been approved will cost about Rs 2,670 crore in total. Most of that money, over Rs 2,200 crore, is for the Sector 142 to Botanical Garden link line, while the Bodaki extension costs about Rs 400 crore. Crucially, the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs has already given the green light for both projects, so a big obstacle to starting work is gone.

Big benefit for Delhi-NCR commuters

Once they are running, these new metro lines are expected to carry over 2 lakh people every day. The Botanical Garden link will let people easily switch to the Delhi Metro, and the Bodaki line will make it simpler to get to the railway station. Overall, these projects will mean fewer people driving, which should help lower traffic jams in and around Noida.

What’s next and timeline

We should see construction start soon, as the bidding process is already in progress. The authorities are also planning a third extension from Sector 51 to Greater Noida West, but they are waiting for final approval on that one. With so many metro expansions happening, Noida is on its way to becoming one of the best-connected parts of the NCR.
