Delhi-NCR news: Yogi government has accelerated work on the massive “New Noida” project under the Dadri-Noida-Ghaziabad Investment Region (DNGIR). The new city will be developed across nearly 209 square kilometres near Noida International Airport and could become one of the biggest urban expansion projects in Delhi-NCR.
New Noida region covers over 80 villages across Gautam Buddha Nagar and Bulandshahr districts. Around 60 villages are located in Bulandshahr while nearly 20 villages fall in Gautam Buddha Nagar. In the first phase itself, 37 villages have already been included for development and land acquisition. Thousands of farmers are expected to receive major compensation under the project.
One of the biggest developments is the sharp increase in land compensation rates. Farmers will now receive around Rs 4,300 per square metre for land acquisition. Officials say the revised rates now match compensation offered by Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority. Earlier lower rates had slowed down land agreements, but authorities now expect much faster progress.
Uttar Pradesh government has already earmarked nearly Rs 8,000 crore for initial land acquisition under the project. Authorities say timely compensation payments will help build trust among farmers while accelerating development. Overall compensation payouts across the entire project could eventually cross Rs 80000 crore, making it one of the region’s biggest land compensation exercises.
The Dadri-Noida-Ghaziabad Investment Region is being developed as a large integrated industrial and urban hub. Plans include: Industrial parks, logistics and warehousing hubs, data centres, residential townships, along with schools and commercial centres. Its proximity to Noida International Airport makes it strategically important for attracting domestic and global investments.
