The scheme, named the National Strategy for Sustainable Secondary Steel, is expected to be rolled out within the next three months. The proposal may soon go before the Union Cabinet for approval, government sources said. The initiative will applyto all steelmakers across the country, though a substantial portion of the funds will be directed towards secondary steel producers. It focuses on encouraging the adoption of clean technologies and alternative materials in various steelmaking processes to lower the industry’s carbon footprint.
