India plans ₹1,000 crore war-risk insurance fund as Hormuz crisis disrupts trade

New Delhi: The government is considering setting up a dedicated fund to support insurers providing war-risk cover for ships to and from India transiting conflict-hit waters in West Asia, said people aware of deliberations. Disruption in the region amid the Iran war has upended trade flows, and global reinsurers have stopped providing cover, making it costlier and difficult to move cargo.
