The proposed Delhi-Agra Namo Bharat corridor has received a major update. Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini announced that the rapid rail route is proposed to pass through Nuh, Punhana (Haryana) and Bharatpur (Rajasthan) before reaching Agra. The state government will soon write to the Centre seeking approval for the revised alignment. The proposal is yet to receive final clearance.
Better connectivity for Haryana and Rajasthan
If approved, the corridor will directly connect Nuh district (Mewat) with Delhi-NCR, Agra in Uttar Pradesh and Bharatpur in Rajasthan through the Namo Bharat network. The project is expected to improve regional connectivity while boosting economic growth, tourism and development in the area.
Delhi-Meerut-Rishikesh corridor
The country’s first Namo Bharat corridor, currently connecting Delhi and Meerut, is planned to be extended to Muzaffarnagar, IIT Roorkee, Haridwar and Rishikesh. The extension aims to provide faster travel between Delhi and Uttarakhand.
Other major Namo Bharat corridors
The proposed Delhi-Gurugram-Alwar corridor will cover 164 km, connecting Aerocity, Gurugram, Manesar, Neemrana and Alwar, improving access to major industrial hubs. Another proposed route, the Delhi-Panipat corridor, will stretch 103 km from Sarai Kale Khan to Sonipat and Panipat, strengthening connectivity across Haryana’s industrial belt.
Ghaziabad-Noida Airport link
A 72-km Namo Bharat corridor has also been proposed between Ghaziabad and Noida International Airport (Jewar). The route will run via Sahibabad, Ghaziabad, and Greater Noida, offering direct airport connectivity for passengers travelling from Delhi, Ghaziabad and Meerut.
Five more corridors planned for Delhi-NCR
Apart from these projects, five additional Namo Bharat corridors have been proposed for the Delhi-NCR region:
- Delhi-Faridabad-Ballabhgarh-Palwal
- Delhi-Shahdara-Baraut
- Ghaziabad-Khurja
- Delhi-Bahadurgarh-Rohtak
- Ghaziabad-Hapur
